East Sussex Children’s Service and the East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESSCP) has set an expectation that the named safeguarding link governors attend, prior to or shortly after appointment, in-depth face to face training delivered by the East Sussex Governor and Clerking Services.

This session will provide new safeguarding link governors the knowledge to work effectively with the school’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and ensure the governing body's responsibilities are being met.

By the end of the course it is anticipated that new safeguarding link governors will:

• Know the key aspects of monitoring responsibilities of the governing body


• Understand the benefits and effectiveness of a safeguarding link governor’s checklist Have a practical approach planned to work effectively with the school's DSL


• Have a practical approach to reporting outcomes to the governing body

 You will receive a certificate of attendance for verification for Ofsted on completion of the evaluation form at the end of the event.
