The voluntary nature of governance makes it important that governing boards conduct their business efficiently to make the best use of
everyone's time. Professional clerking has a vital role to play in meeting the requirements of the governing board and a strong and effective working relationship between the clerk and the chair of governors is key to this.
This course aims to promote effective governance by bringing both parties together to explore:
This session offers the opportunity for the chair and the clerk to come together and spend time looking at ways of working in order to ensure
the efficiency and effectiveness of the governing board.
It will look at what chairs and clerks can expect of each other and who contributes what to the smooth running of the governing board.
There will be an opportunity to evaluate the strategic effectiveness of your own governing board.
This course is for Clerks and Chairs to Governors in East Sussex schools that are independent, primary academies, secondary academies and free schools, maintained primary, maintained special and maintained secondary.
This training will be delivered using Microsoft Teams.
