Course description

On this course participants will look at methods to effectively manage the process of an allegation against a colleague or themselves.


This training is NOT designed for representatives from HR/Personnel from any setting/agency. It is ONLY for those professionals who are DIRECTLY involved in the management of allegations (which for Education settings include: Governors, Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers, and DSL's)


Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Training objectives
Learning outcomes
To provide participants with a clear understanding of:


  • the process for managing allegations outlined in Working Together

  • organisational roles and responsibilities

  • the role of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)

  • the relationship between the LADO and other partner agencies.

Maximum Delegates
Due to limited places, only 1 delegate from each school will be able to join the course. Additional delegates from same organisation will go on the waiting list and at course close, if places available, be given a place.

Preparation and Follow Up
Before attending any ESSCP training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children online e-learning training course. To complete this course go to the e-learning section on the East Sussex Learning Portal, enter the Children’s Workforce channel and click Safeguarding.
