This briefing session aims to update governors about reforms to the Early Years and Foundation Stage, which become statutory from September 2021. This session is aimed at primary schools, infant schools and through schools who have early years and foundation stage classes.


This training will inform governors of the key messages from the DfE about Baseline Assessment and the new reforms to the EYFS that are due to become statutory in September 2021. Governors will be able to consider how the changes in expectations may impact on practice and workload for teachers.

  • Key aims of EYFS reforms

  • Changes in educational programmes and the Early Learning Goals (ELGs)

  • Assessment, evidence, tracking and data
