Course description

To provide Governors and Members of the Management Board with a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities for the management of offsite visits and school trips.

Training objectives
As a Governor or a Member of the Management Board it is important that you fully understand your responsibilities when it comes to school trips and offsite visits, both in the planning phase and in a crisis. This will enable you to support your establishment, ensuring they are following current best practice.

The course will cover:

  • roles and responsibilities

  • outdoor learning benefits and curriculum links

  • policies and procedures

  • your Educational Visits Co-ordinator (EVC)

  • inclusion on school trips

  • your role in an emergency or incident on an offsite visit.

Target Audience: Governors and Members of the Management Board in : East Sussex Maintained Primary, Secondary, Independent and Special Schools, Primary & Secondary Academies. Non ESCC Schools.
Maximum Delegates: 2 delegates per organisation
Preparation and Follow Up: Identify if your establishment has a trained EVC in place. Identify the different types of visit that your establishment participates in.

Please bring with you:  a pen and paper, and any questions.

Refreshments : Tea/coffee will be provided please bring with you any additional refreshments you may want.
Please note that this course falls outside the Governors' SLA, and therefore has a charge, which is detailed when you request a place.
As there is a walk from the car park to the venue and for accessing lavatories, please wear outdoor shoes and carry an umbrella for inclement weather.
