Course description

This face to face course will enable participants to explore effective inter-agency working in Child Protection Conferences and Core Groups.

Important note: It is essential that you have completed the Safeguarding Children and Young People eLearning and the pre-course learning, prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.



Training objectives


Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will understand how to:

  • explore the purpose and functions of Child Protection Conferences and Core Groups

  • understand their professional and statutory function in relation to preparation and attendance at such meetings

  • develop Child Protection plans

  • look at parental behaviour and professional practice.

Additional Information
A maximum of two representatives from each team may have a confirmed place and further bookings will be put on a wait list.
Before attending any ESSCP training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children and Young People online e-learning training course. To complete this course go to the e-learning section on the East Sussex Learning Portal, enter the Children’s Workforce channel and click Safeguarding or follow the above link.
Refreshments are provided however lunch is not. Course delegates can order a buffet lunch but this must be done before the course. Packed lunch can be eaten in the training room.
Covid information
• Please do not attend the training if you have any symptoms of or have tested positive for Covid.
• Delegates are advised to bring extra layers of clothing, as windows may be opened for ventilation at the venue.
