This course will support governors in carrying out their statutory role to monitor EYFS provision.

The course will look at aspects of high-quality learning within the EYFS and examine the impact of the environment and adult interaction in raising the attainment for all children. Effective ways to monitor the provision through tracking, action planning and meeting with staff will be discussed.

To provide examples of high-quality learning to ensure that this can be identified.

To provide opportunities to discuss important elements of a high-quality learning environment.

To look at tracking and monitoring processes in order to gain a deeper understanding of how to hold EYFS leaders to account.

Governors will:

• have a secure understanding of what quality learning looks like in the EYFS


• have the confidence to understand the tracking provided by the EYFS


• recognise effective elements of action planning and monitoring
