One of the key responsibilities for governing boards is "Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of
the organisation and its pupils." The course aims to provide governors with a clear understanding of why governing boards should have a school visit schedule linked to the school’s Improvement Plan and how to be effective during the visit and in reporting the outcomes.
This session investigates how to develop a governor visits programme that links with the school improvement plan priorities and guidance
on reporting visits.
By the end of the course governors will:
• have improved their understanding of the purpose of governors’ visits
• have agreed protocols for governors’ visits and the framework for a visits policy
• be able to participate in and report back on formal school visits more effectively.
