The session will cover what the Primary PE and Sport Premium is, how it came about, some best practice examples of its use in Sussex schools and the role of the Governor in terms of its sustainable spend and reporting.

Training objectives

The workshop aims to give governors the knowledge and understanding needed to monitor and evaluate the spending of Primary PE and Sport Premium effectively within their schools, ensuring it maximises impact and contributes to whole school improvement. 


Case study:


The second half of the workshop considers evidence from a Headteacher champion of a good practice school on the positive impact of PE, sport and physical activity within school and how the funding can contribute to high quality whole school outcomes.

Learning outcomes

  • A clear understanding of the PE and Sport Premium and its intended outcomes

  • A clear understanding of their responsibilities in relation to the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the PE Premium

  • Strategies for monitoring the impact of the PE premium in their schools
