East Sussex Children’s Service and the East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESSCP) has set an expectation that the named safeguarding link governors attend, prior to or shortly after appointment, in-depth face to face training delivered by the East Sussex Governor and Clerking Services.
This session will provide new safeguarding link governors the knowledge to work effectively with the school’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and ensure the governing body's responsibilities are being met.
The course is designed to be interactive with a mixture of presentation and group discussion to update governors on current changes and provide practical solutions to monitoring and reporting on the school's safeguarding responsibilities, including using the East Sussex safeguarding link governors’ checklist.
By the end of the course it is anticipated that new safeguarding link governors will:
Know the key aspects of monitoring responsibilities of the governing body
